Buko Halo at Panglao Island Nature Resort and Spa

April 26, 2010

During this summer, there can never be as delightful as cooling and indulging the Filipino way of a cold treat.  That is halo halo.

Everywhere in our country, this mixed fruits with ice and milk can be very visible anywhere. It can be found along the streets, in the mall, and in the leading restaurants.

But eating this inside the coconut shell and beside a very beautiful view will give you a different level of enjoyment.

That is the Buko Halo that we ate at Panglao Island Nature Resort and Spa.  We ate it beside the infinity pool with a picturesque view of the beach. It was a total cooling way to refresh while enjoying the view.

The Buko Halo that they served does not only taste good, but they included fresh fruits and ice cream. It was a mixture of flavors that resulted to a very palatable and rich halo-halo.

Panglao Island Nature Resort and Spa can be located inside the island of Panglao, Bohol. It is a resort with a view of the sea and a man-made islet that you can go to. It is unique because it is situated on a cliff.

The infinity pool gives you an illusion of the continuation of the pool water to the sea.  This resort will give you complete relaxation. They also have a spa, and water activities that you may avail of. What makes this unique is that they have a cave inside the resort.

You may swim but be careful since the water inside the cave is deep.  Their casitas are designed in harmony with rich vegetation of the area. Thus, this gives a tranquil feeling with nature while having the luxury of a 5 star hotel.

When in Bohol, never miss the opportunity to drop by Panglao Island Nature Resort and Spa for a perfect hideaway and a fantastic food indulgence. Their buko halo will surely be a hit to those who seek coolness from the scourging summer heat.

Halo Halo by DJC

April 27, 2009

This is one cold delicacy that I am proud of as a Filipino. It has been our cold treat specially during hot summer.  In Bicol, there is this halo halo restaurant that made its name because of the delicious, mix of yam, leche flan, sweet banana, cheese and others that is hard to explain.  Their preparation is simple but the ice is finely shaved and the fruits were perfectly preserved. They have made an institution because of this.  It is the Halo Halo of DJC.  DCJ originated for Tiwi, Albay. During the 90s, when we were in Legaspi city and we would like to have a good halo halo, we would drive 1  ½ hours to Tiwi just to have this very delectable halo halo.  It is a must try!!!  I remember then, we have to wait for our turn to be seated because it was flocked by people waiting to have a taste of their halo halo.  Even during rainy days, DJC is still full.

Where to find

DJC Halo Halo is located at Tiwi, Albay.  But now, you can have it here in Legaspi City.  It is situated in LANDCO shopping complex.  They have a separate store from the mall and is near the parking area.  DJC Halo Halo is one food that I always have everytime I go to Albay.  Many can attest of the terrific taste.  They have been consistent with the taste.  Before, Now and hopefully in the future.  Something the Bicolanos should be proud of.  A wonderful Filipino delicacy perfected in the heart of Bicolandia.  Masiram na Maray!!!
